Hmm... Maybe don't start the top ranked Oregon defense this week?!...

Being that Oregon is going against a VERY talented USC team in Los Angeles, I would rather take the Arizona defense against a battered UCLA team. Arizona is prime to put up solid numbers and Oregon is destined to give up points to Matt Barkley and his plethora of weapons, i.e. Ronald Johnson and Robert Woods. Just an FYI to those of you who think you can run up your defensive score with Oregon every week: Outlook is not looking good this week.

Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, a wide receiver from Iowa should be plugged in this week at one of your WR slots. He has 221 yards and 6 touchdowns in his last 3 weeks! Play him this week against a suspect Wisconsin defense PLEASE!

Who does running back Tim Flanders play for?

Tim Flanders has almost 700 yards rushing and 9 touchdowns on the season so far. The problem is that CBS Sportsline has him listed as a RB for Division 1 Kansas State, but he plays for Division 2 Sam Houston State. Most college fantasy leagues do not include Division 2 teams because the level of competition. He's the 9th ranked running back in Division 1 fantasy leagues without playing for a Division 1 team. What a conspiracy!

Keep your eye on Brad Starks, WR from West Virginia

He did not play for WV until two weeks ago, and since then he's had 6 catches, 145 yards, and 4 touchdowns. He also has a nice height advantage at 6'3" FYI...

Is Dane Sanzenbacher (12) more valuble than DeVier Posey (8) as a Ohio State WR?

DeVier Posey started the season as the elite wide receiver on Ohio State, but as the season has gone forward a guy named Dane has stolen the show. Dane has 7 touchdowns to DeVier's 3. Dane has 27 catches to DeVier's 26. Dane has 411 receiving yards to DeVier's 364.

Taking all that in, my gut still says that DeVier will be the better option down the stretch because he and Posey have the same quickness, but DeVier has more size physically (6'2 vs 5'11) and so I feel the Buckeyes will target Posey more in the redzone. So far though, the stats have shown otherwise.

USC's Robert Woods is an interesting young WR prospect...

Robert Woods' stat line from last week's game against Stanford: 12 catches, 224 yards, 3 touchdowns.

Tell me this guy doesn't intrigue you going forward. Ronald Johnson is the clear veteran stud receiver on USC, but Woods seems like he is now a sexy option for fantasy owners to start looking at. He was a highly touted recruit, and he just showed why this last weekend. Keep your eye on him, or flat out pick him up.

Bilal Powell, RB, Louisville - Pick him up!

Powell has averaged 137 yards a game this year and has 8 touchdowns in 5 games. He'll be lining up to bulldoze Cinncinati this week, and I might actually start him over a guy like Jacquizz Rodgers. Hmm....

Who is the better NCAA Fantasy Football QB? Cameron Newton or Denard Robinson?

Newton has 21 TD's on the season (12 passing, 9 rushing)

Robinson has 17 TD's on the season (8 passing, 9 rushing)

While Newton has 4 more touchdowns, Robinson has 319 more rushing yards (Averaging 2 more yards a carry than Newton), and 85 more passing yards than Newton on the season.

Neither of these players are NFL style QB's. They run about the same amount of times as they pass the ball, but they are very successful at running the ball and that is why these two guys are at the top of the fantasy list ahead of top NFL QB prospects like Jake Locker. I don't know if I could actually choose one over the other right now. Newton passes for more TD's versus Robinson rushes and passes for slightly more yards. The only determining factor would be strength of schedule for me to determine who to start. If I'm going talent wise, I would call this a draw.

If your fantasy D has a bye this week like top rated Oregon's does, look for these defenses to step in and score MAJOR points!

Please revert to using LSU's D if you're lucky enough to have them on waivers. LSU is playing the lowly, 4th in the Southland Conference, McNeese State Cowboys. Southland conference? Really? LSU might actually have 40 points even though they usually average 22.

If you are not lucky enough to get LSU's D off waivers, maybe you'll be crafty enough to get Arizona's D who is going up against the PATHETIC Washington State Cougars. Arizona is averaging about 18 a contest on defense, and I could see them eclipsing 25 this week. Don't be surprised if Arizona safety Joseph Perkins returns a interception for a touchdown; as he already has two INT's on the season and Washington State throws the ball the majority of the time because they have no running game.

What does it all come down to: Stat trends and matchups!
